Seven products for interior and exterior work: five finishes made out of crushed limestone or marble, each custom-colored to match virtually any color, and the two liquids that bond and seal them.
Five bagged finishes · two liquids
- Marblecoat50-lb bag · 12 standard colorsCrushed marble in a proprietary blend, for the polished look of natural stone.

- Stonecoat50-lb bag · 12 standard colorsCrushed limestone, hand-tooled on site to the look of cut stone, complete with grout lines.

- Arcus Plaster50-lb bag · 12 standard colorsCrushed limestone plaster that reads as mottled, aged stucco with a warm patina.

- Lime Plaster Fine30-lb bag · 24 standard colorsLime and marble powders, for a Venetian-style finish.

- Lime Plaster Medium30-lb bag · 24 standard colorsThe same plaster with a slightly larger aggregate, for a Marmorino-style finish.

- Bonding Agent / Primer5 GalGoes on before the finish so it bonds: required for most Arcusstone applications.

- Penetrating Water Repellent Sealer5 GalGoes on after, to repel water: the seal Arcusstone specifies for its finishes.

Telling them apart

Stonecoat and Arcus Plaster
- Both
- Built on crushed limestone.
- Stonecoat
- Hand-tooled into the look of cut stone with grout lines, or a more rustic field stone; it can be textured, honed and finished like cut stone.
- Arcus Plaster
- Coarser limestone rounds reflect light differently, so the color shifts rather than holding a single hue — a subtle, natural movement, infinitely variable in texture.
- Where they part
- Stonecoat goes on vertical and horizontal work, in wet locations such as shower surrounds and on water features such as fountains. Arcus Plaster is not for horizontal surfaces with vehicle or foot traffic, water features, or wet locations.
The two Lime Plasters
- The difference
- Aggregate size: Medium carries a slightly larger aggregate than Fine.
- The finish
- Fine gives a Venetian-style finish; Medium, a Marmorino-style finish. More trowelling gives a higher polish.
Marblecoat
- The marble one
- Its white natural state makes for brighter, more arresting colors.
- Coats
- A single coat, or multiple coats for a deeper texture; finished with light sanding or buffing.
- Instead of
- A cost-effective alternative to high-grade paint or thin-stone veneers.
The numbers
Thickness, strength, colors and coverage for the five bagged finishes.
| Finish | Nominal thickness | Strength | Standard colors | Coverage per bag |

| Marblecoat | 1/8″ – 1/4″ | 5,800 PSI | 12 | 20 – 40 sq ft, 50-lb |
| Stonecoat | 3/16″ – 3/8″ | 5,800 PSI ¹ | 12 | 15 sq ft at 3/8″, 50-lb |
| Arcus Plaster | 3/16″ – 1/4″ ² | 4,200 PSI ³ | 12 | 20 – 25 sq ft at 3/16″ – 1/4″, 50-lb |
| Lime Plaster Fine | 1/32″ – 1/16″ | Not weight-bearing | 24 | 160 – 210 sq ft, 30-lb ⁴ |
| Lime Plaster Medium | 1/16″ – 1/8″ | Not weight-bearing | 24 | 160 – 210 sq ft, 30-lb ⁴ |
- ¹ Stonecoat tests at 5,805 psi compressive at 28 days, ASTM C-109.
- ² The architectural specification gives a nominal 3/16″.
- ³ Arcus Plaster tests at 4,102 psi compressive at 28 days, ASTM C-109.
- ⁴ Depending on substrate smoothness.
- Stonecoat and Arcus Plaster weigh, on average, one pound per square foot for each 1/8″ of thickness, tested to ASTM C67.
True of all of them

- Color
- Integrally colored with mineral-oxide pigments — powdered for Stonecoat, Arcus Plaster and Marblecoat, liquid for the two Lime Plasters.
- Custom color
- Every finish can be custom-colored to match virtually any color.
- How it goes on
- By trowel in a two-coat method, or sprayed and back-trowelled.
- Where
- Interior and exterior work.
- Sealing
- Arcus Plaster, Marblecoat and both Lime Plasters must be sealed; Stonecoat is sealed in the conditions its data sheet lists, and strongly recommended on all other exterior work.
- Who installs it
- Installed by trained applicators.
- Made
- Limestone quarried in Texas; manufactured in the United States.
- Shelf life
- One year in unopened bags from the stamped date of manufacture.
- Warranty
- At the time of shipment, the product conforms to its current published specifications.
Every guarantee covers the full Arcusstone system — primer, finish and sealer together.

The two liquids
One goes on before the finish, one after. Both come in 5-gallon pails.
Bonding Agent / Primer
- What it is
- A re-emulsifying vinyl-acetate resin bonding agent complying with ASTM C932.
- Required
- For most Arcusstone applications — for Marblecoat especially over non-porous surfaces or where adhesion is a concern — and over existing stucco before any Arcusstone application.
- Recommended
- For the Lime Plasters, over new non-porous surfaces or where adhesion is a concern; and over new Portland cement stucco brown coats, to even out suction and color and aid bonding.
- How
- Brush or roller, to a uniform coat of at least 5 mils; it dries and cures at least an hour before the finish goes on.
Penetrating Water Repellent Sealer
- What it is
- The seal Arcusstone specifies for its finishes.
- Must be sealed with it
- Arcus Plaster, Marblecoat and both Lime Plasters. On heavy-use Marblecoat surfaces (countertops, bar tops, baths, kitchens, garage floors, driveways, walkways, patios), a commercial-grade top-coat sealer may be used instead.
- Stonecoat
- Required in extreme freeze/thaw, high or constant UV, high altitude, high humidity and subtropical or tropical locations, and in wet locations, water features, countertops and all exterior horizontal work; strongly recommended on all other exterior work.
