Penetrating Water Repellent Sealer

The product that protects the finish — a barrier against water absorption, efflorescence, UV light fade and freeze/thaw damage.

A waterborne, non-toxic, low-odor, low-VOC, non-flammable silane / siloxane water repellent.

It penetrates the Arcusstone coating and chemically reacts to form a powerful barrier against water absorption, efflorescence formation, UV light fade and freeze/thaw damage.

Application will not alter the color or texture of the Arcusstone coating.

Over Arcus Plaster

Coats

A terrace of pale coated slabs beside a pond.

Where it goes

Stepped exterior terrace walls in cream coated stone with grey caps.
Uses
A penetrating water-repellent barrier over most applications of Stonecoat and Arcus Plaster, and other cementitious materials.
Required seal
Arcus Plaster, Marblecoat, Lime Plaster Fine and Lime Plaster Medium must each be sealed with it.
On every finish
Arcus Plaster, Marblecoat and both Lime Plasters are always sealed; Stonecoat as set out below.
Stonecoat
Required on exteriors in extreme climates — higher freeze/thaw cycles, higher and more constant UV exposure, higher altitudes, or higher humidity and subtropical or tropical locations — and in wet locations, countertops and all exterior horizontal applications.
Coated shapes
Manufactured EPS shapes are sealed at the manufacturing facility before shipping.

Where it does not go

  • Not formulated for substrates with hydrostatic pressure, such as retaining walls.
  • Not intended to seal cracks.
  • Not for pool surrounds, submersed applications such as fountains, or any area subject to water immersion or caustic chemicals.
  • Not appropriate for polished stone — it must penetrate and react with the surface to be effective.
  • Do not apply to hot, wet, frozen or thawing substrates.

Technical details

For specifiers and applicators. The product data sheet above carries all of it.

Applying it
Method
A low-pressure, high-volume pump sprayer at 20 – 30 psi. Airless sprayers are not acceptable.
Mixing
Stir well before application, by hand only. Do not dilute or thin.
Before
New Arcusstone coating cures a minimum of 48 hours before it is treated.
Temperature
Surface and air between 45°F (7°C) and 90°F (32°C).
Surface
Sound, dry, and free of cracks, dirt, efflorescence or other contaminants. Protect plants, shrubs, glass and other surfaces from overspray; remove overspray at once with a mild soap-and-water solution, without letting it touch the surface being treated.
Coats
Two applications, wet on wet, are required for maximum penetration, protection and warranty.
Direction
Saturate the surface working from the bottom of the wall upward; on horizontal surfaces, let it dwell a few minutes and blot off any excess that has pooled.
Protection
Keep treated surfaces from rain and direct water splash, including landscape sprinklers, for at least 24 hours.
Cure
Effectiveness relates to cure time, which lengthens below 65°F (18°C); allow 14 days before evaluating performance.
Clean-up
Immediately, with water and mild detergent, rinsing with clean water; once dry, mechanical means may be needed.
Storage and shelf life
  • Store in a cool place out of direct sunlight, on pallets under cover, not exposed to weather, no more than 2 pallets high.
  • Keep from freezing. If frozen or partially frozen, discard.
  • Shelf life: 1 year in unopened original pails, or 6 months once opened and properly resealed.
